Melanie Headley

Melanie Headley is the Executive Director of toLabor, an International Doula Training + Certifying Organization. toLabor is built on the foundation of empowering families, honoring birth and changing lives. We believe there is room for compassion in every birth. It is a civil right. It is a human right.

Melanie is a mother to 6ish kids, 4 of whom she grew and birthed herself. Melanie and her partner, along with their blended family of teens and preteens, live on the James River in Richmond, VA. She also owns/operates a thriving Birth Collective called A Brighter Birth where she has worked as a practicing Doula, Childbirth Educator and Lactation Counselor for the past 12 years. Melanie has been involved in birth work for the last 15 years in some form or another, and always will be. Now at the helm of toLabor, she is overjoyed at the thought of being a part of cultivating the next wave of Birth Doulas and to continue bringing CHANGE to women’s health, labor and delivery.

This brand new option of adding a toLabor training within a prenatal yoga teacher training was devised to give birth workers + prenatal yoga instructors a well rounded, holistic view of pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum from a supportive, empowering perspective.
