HHY 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training

Intention:

Humble Haven’s 200-hour Teacher Training Program is designed to empower each individual participant with the tools to teach on and off their mat while simultaneously deepening their own practice. Our teaching is rooted in Power Vinyasa and uses this lineage as the foundation for all other styles of yoga explored. Each session is structured around 3 areas of practice - Asana (movement), Meditation, and Self Reflection or Inquiry.

Teaching Modules:

  • In-depth Asana (Posture) Study for Humble Haven’s core practices - Power Vinyasa and Hamstrings, Hips, & Spines, and Hatha Yoga for Varying Abilities 

  • Guided study of The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali 

  • Meditation tools and techniques 

  • Study of Yoga Principles (8 Limbs)

  • Anatomy Intensive

  • Sequencing, pacing, and cueing

  • Ayurveda 

  • Hands on Assists

  • Cultivating Community Through Cultural Awareness (formerly: Decentering Whiteness in Wellness)

  • The Business of Yoga

  • Teaching Yoga Virtually 

  • Teaching to Music

Hours & Training Setup:

Humble Haven’s 200-hour Teacher Training program includes 200-hours of guided study between in-person intensives, guided recordings for self study, 13 group yoga classes to be taken from one of the lead trainers outside of in-person intensives, and 3 class observations. In addition to the 200-hours required of guided study, reading and writing assignments will be assigned in between intensive dates. The required book list is below (cost for books is not included in the cost of your training). All books should be purchased before we begin. There are no reading assignments required before training starts.

Location:

We will meet in-person at our studio located at 6980 Forest Ave Richmond, VA 23230. Our session on best practices for teaching yoga virtually will be held via Zoom. Should in-person training be deemed inappropriate by Virginia government officials and/or Yoga Alliance, for any of the scheduled dates, this training will be shifted to a virtual platform.

Traveling Students:

If you are from out of town and in need of lodging for training, we have a 3-bedroom Airbnb on hold through the end of October for anyone in need. Reach out to suzanne@humblehavenyoga.com to inquire.

Weekend Intensive Hours:

Our 2023 - 2024 Yoga Teacher Training is made up of 5-day, 3-day, and 2-day intensives. Please review all dates and times closely. Our 2-day intensives (dates above) will meet Fridays and Saturdays

  • Friday: 5:30-9:30pm 

  • Saturday: 12:30-9:30pm

Investment:

  • $3000 - Early Bird Price - Register on or before 11/15/2023. Full payment required by 12/11/2023.

  • $3500 - if utilizing a payment plan or if registration is received after 11/15/2023. Full Payment required by 12/31/2023.

    **Books for required reading not included in training costs**

Registration:

Once application has been accepted, a $500 non-refundable deposit will need to be submitted to hold your space. Deposit will be deducted from final tuition payment.

Payment Plans:

  • Option 1: $500 deposit at registration + 2 payments of $1500. 1st payment on or before 12/11/2023. 2nd payment on or before 4/1/2024.

  • Option 2: $500 deposit at registration + 4 payments of $750 made on 10/1, 12/1, 2/1, 4/1.

Scholarship:

Our mission as a studio is to bring together a diverse group of people to experience something outside of routine living. We see the scholarships offered as a necessary step in upholding our mission.

  • Scholarship 1: 50% scholarship offered by Humble Haven Yoga and reserved for members of the BIPOC community. We believe that diverse communities embody a great deal of strength and joy. This scholarship is one small act to decenter whiteness in wellness spaces and encourage more BIPOC standing at the front of our Richmond yoga rooms and spaces.

  • Scholarship 2: 50% scholarship offered by Humble Haven Yoga and reserved for teachers, military, and healthcare workers because your efforts day in and day out ensure our ability to be well and resilient.
